Before recording a podcast episode, use this checklist to ensure high-quality audio.
- Is there any background noise in your current location or your guest’s? (A/C, fans, dogs, etc)
- Make sure there isn’t a lot of echo in your location
- If wearing lapel mics, make sure they are not going to be rubbed by hair or clothes.
- If using a regular mic, ensure mic is about 3-4 inches from your mouth
- Test your audio preferences before starting and make sure the recording is coming from your highest quality microphone.
- Sometimes the computer mic could be selected, which you do not want to happen
- If using Zoom to record:
- Ensure it is set to download in (2) separate audio files.
- Though our team will record the interview, you can also record the audio on your side since the sound quality over Zoom is reduced. If not, we will do our best to make it sound good.
- Make sure you click record.
- Ensure your mic have headphones in to avoid feedback into the mic
- Ensure you have water nearby in case needed.
- Remove any items from the table that you may fidget with. The mic will pick up the sliding of papers, pens, etc.
- Also, request this of your guest if it’s an interview.
